Many believe that getting pets from rescue organizations is a lot better than getting them from breeders or puppy mills. In most cases this is actually untrue as many rescue organizations get the dogs they adopt away from breeders rather than getting the animals from shelters.

Statistics show that since 2009 at least 88 rescue nonprofits have spent $2.6 million buying dogs from breeders. These organizations buy the dogs from breeders because animal shelters have fewer dogs and purebreds than breeders have. Most of these organizations are irresponsible when buying and dealing with animals. For example, the National Mill Dog Rescue, NMDR, was recently cited for multiple violations including importing dogs without the proper vaccines, transporting animals without a license to do so, and failing to supply the new owners with the proper records of the dogs.

You can help the animals in this situation by reporting anything you see or hear to the authorities or the humane society for animals. You can also adopt dogs and encourage people to adopt from shelters instead of adopting from rescue organizations, or finding a reputable rescue organization that does not get its animals from a breeder and does not mistreat its animals. You should also look for scams on facebook or other places online as there are many people posting fake ads looking for money without actually having any dogs to give
